Media Manager Summer ’25 Update: Inline Edit & V1 Deprecation

Table of Contents
We’re excited to bring you the latest Media Manager Summer’25 update and this time we focused on how important it is for users to update file and record details quickly without navigating away or interrupting their workflow. With this in mind, we focused on improving the Media Manager experience by introducing a smooth and powerful inline editing capability. This release also marks the official deprecation of Media Manager V1, encouraging everyone to transition to the modern and feature-rich V2.
New in this release:
- Inline Edit for Files and Object Fields
- Media Manager V1 Deprecation
Inline Edit to Save Time and Clicks
Managing multiple files and tagging them accurately can be tedious when you have to open each file or switch to Salesforce record editors. Now, with the Inline Edit feature, all of this happens directly within the Media Manager list view—no extra clicks, no modal pop-ups.
Here’s what Inline Edit offers:
Edit Directly in the List View
When working with large sets of files, every extra click slows you down. Inline Edit removes this friction by placing a pencil icon directly in each editable field—making it clear and easy to update metadata or object-level fields immediately.
This means no more disruptive pop-ups or page reloads; just smooth, in-place editing that keeps your workflow intact.

Bulk Updates in a Few Clicks
Keeping data consistent across multiple files can be a repetitive chore. Inline Edit solves this by allowing users to select several rows at once and apply changes simultaneously.
Whether you’re tagging dozens of photos or updating statuses, this bulk editing capability reduces manual effort and saves valuable time.

Partial save with error feedback
Editing multiple records at once could risk errors or conflicts, but Inline Edit safeguards your changes. While in edit mode, potentially conflicting actions like delete or share trigger confirmation alerts to prevent accidental disruptions.
Plus, if any rows contain invalid data, you receive immediate, inline error messages pinpointing exactly where corrections are needed—helping you fix issues without losing progress.

Editable Column Flag for Admins
To maintain data integrity, it’s important to control which fields can be edited. The new Editable Column Flag lets admins precisely mark which columns are open for inline editing, with disabled fields clearly indicated to avoid confusion.
Best of all, existing configurations are automatically updated post-installation with sensible defaults, making deployment seamless.

Works Seamlessly Everywhere
Whether you’re on desktop, mobile, or accessing Salesforce through a community portal, Inline Edit adapts to your device. Pencil icons and editing controls are optimized for touch and mouse interaction alike, enabling your team to update files and records on the go, without missing a beat.
Use case:
A field agent visiting a customer uploads several photos of a damaged product to a Case record on their mobile device. Previously, tagging each photo required opening files individually or switching to the record editor—an inefficient process, especially on the go. Now, the agent can open the Case, see all uploaded files in Media Manager, tag all photos as “Damage Proof,” add specific descriptions inline, and apply these changes to all selected files at once. This instant, mobile-friendly editing saves time and improves data accuracy.

Media Manager V1 Deprecation: Time to Upgrade
